Party Improvements
With the latest update we've aimed to improve the experience of playing in a party. There's also a couple of updates to gameplay.
Party Invites
To start, we've improved the reliability of party invites. This includes updating the invite system to better show an invite dropdown when someone invites you while still allowing you to mute them for 5 minutes if you choose to decline an invite.
The dropdowns will now also be shown while you're in races, allowing you to invite players who come online to your party or accept invites while you're finishing up the race! For players who prefer keeping absolute focus on the race track we've added a setting to the Alerts section where you can turn off the dropdown notifications while in races.

Party Member Status
To make sure your party members know you need some time to finish losing the race we've introduced a feature to show if a party member is busy. If you're not like me and tend to win your races, I'm sure it will work for that too. It will actually work for a whole bunch of things you could be busy with while in a party. Like changing animal, power-ups, outfit and a bunch more!

Party Chat
In the next couple of days we are also rolling out Quick-Chats! After playing some races with your friends I'm sure you like to spam "GG"s in the chat. Quick-Chats make this easier! You'll be able to quickly send messages from preset common phrases in the chat. The Quick-Chat phrases are automatically translated to your selected language setting when you receive them. Quick-Chats will roll out over the next couple of days. You'll also be able to use unlocked emotes for your selected animal in the party chat!
In addition to appearing in the party chat itself, chat messages, quick-chat messages and emotes will also be shown as a speech bubble from the animal of the player who said it.

We feel like these updates to the party system greatly improve the experience of playing together with friends. Try them out and see what you think! GG!
Gameplay Updates
Powerup "Double Dipping" Fix
A while ago, some players discovered that they could "double dip" a power-up box by doing a well timed jump-slam maneuver. This allows the player to get two power-ups from a single box without a lot of penalty. While this is an impressive move, it's not intended by our design and has become to dominant as a strategy.
As a fix for this we have added a slight pickup cooldown to power-up boxes. This cooldown should be small enough that getting dragged back into a box should still give you a second pickup, while still taking care of the double dip problem.
Porcupine Polish
We have extended the lifetime of porcupine spines while they fly.
- Spine Lifetime: 3s -> 8.6s
As an example, this means if the spines get blasted into the sky with a Sonic Blast, they have more time to fly and fall onto the track from the skies, before being destroyed!
We have also fixed a small visual bug with the spines, improving how they look when they collide with the ground.
Go Forth!
That's all for now! Go get 'em (and tell your friends)!
